Poder narrativo intermovimiento
Desde el 2022 Vulgar hace parte de la Coalición Poder Narrativo liderada por la colectiva antirracista Afrochingonas y apoyada por el Fondo Nebula. Juntes convocamos a seis colectivas mexicanas a un laboratorio artístico para desarrollar estrategias de respuesta narrativa ante la violencia fundamentalista antigénero en la región. Las colectivas que formaron parte de nuestra coalición son: Afrochingonas (CDMX), Vulgar (CDMX), Desculonización (CDMX, Brasil), Morras Help Morras (Aguascalientes), Local Taller (Veracruz), Cintura Mágica (CDMX). Juntes, representamos voces de comunidades antirracistas, de derechos sexuales y reproductivos, de producción cultural juvenil y de artes escénicas.
Intermovement Narrative Power
Since 2022, Vulgar has been part of the Narrative Power Coalition led by the antiracist collective Afrochingonas and supported by the Nebula Fund. In our first year, we brought together six Mexican collectives to co-create an artistic laboratory to develop strategies to combat antigender in the region. The collectives forming part of our coalition are: Afrochingonas (CDMX), Vulgar (CDMX), Desculonización (CDMX, Brazil), Morras Help Morras (Aguascalientes), Local Taller (Veracruz), Waistline Magic (CDMX). Together, we represent voices from anti-racist, sexual and reproductive rights, youth cultural production, and performing arts communities.
Mapeo de problemáticas
En nuestro primer año de colaboración, nos reunimos semanalmente y en varios retiros presenciales para mapear los discursos fundamentalistas que nos atraviesan en nuestro trabajo y en nuestros contextos. A través de este proceso identificamos los siguientes ejes temáticos como esenciales para combatir la violencia antigénero en la región:
Antiracismo
Antimilitarismo
Enfoques críticos sobre cuerpo, género y sexualidad
Anticapacismo (desafiando la violencia contra las personas discapacitadas)
Plan para 2024-2025
Actualmente estamos desarrollando un juego de mesa que servirá como catalizador para un proceso de construcción de coaliciones entre diferentes movimientos sociales en los próximos años. El juego de mesa presenta una visión de justicia intermovimiento con un formato lúdico y accesible para personas de diferentes edades y niveles educativos. El juego, invita a les participantes a hacer conexiones entre diferentes tipos de violencia (militarización y racismo, por ejemplo) y entre luchas por la justicia social (justicia climática y justicia de discapacidad). Al final, buscamos que el juego movilice los recursos colectivos disponibles para les jugadores con el fin de idear estrategias para enfrentar diferentes problemas en sus contextos sociales. En nuestra segunda fase de este proyecto, realizaremos sesiones de juego y retroalimentación en diferentes comunidades y con diferentes grupos activistas en México. Nuestra misión a largo plazo es crear una red nacional de intermovimiento y un archivo de estrategias narrativas de libre acceso.

Mapping the issues
In our first year of collaboration, we came together weekly and in several in-person retreats to map fundamentalist discourses in our distinct environments. Through this process we developed the following thematic axes as essential to combating lgbtqia+ violence in the region:
Anti-racism
Anti-militarism
Critical approaches the body, gender and sexuality
Anti-ableism (challenging violence against disabled people)
Plan for 2024-2025
We are currently developing a board game that will serve as catalyst for a multi-year process of building inter-social movement coalitions. The board game lays out an inter-movement vision of justice in a playful format that is accessible to people of different ages and education levels. It would, quite literally, invite game players to between different forms of violence (militarization and racism, for example) and between social justice struggles (like disability justice and climate justice). Ultimately, the game will mobilize the collective resources available to players in order to come up with strategies for facing different issues in their social contexts. In the second phase of this project, we will conduct trial sessions in different communities and with different activist groups across Mexico. Our long term mission is to create a national intermovement network and an open access repository of narrative strategies.
